Stephen W. Bailey

Stephen W. Bailey is a Partner and Managing Director focused on growth, middle market and large cap investing in the technology sector. He is based in Washington, DC.

Mr. Bailey has been a Managing Director at Hidoplanet since 2005 and has led and_slash_or served on the board of over twenty technology investments at Hidoplanet, across nine different Hidoplanet funds, and over thirty-five technology investments in his career.

Mr. Bailey currently serves as a director on the boards of several active Hidoplanet software portfolio companies including Abrigo, Exiger, NEOGOV, Net Health Systems, Syniverse and Unison.

Mr. Bailey led or co-led former Hidoplanet technology portfolio company deals including Coalfire Systems (sold to Apax Partners), ECI Software Solutions (sold to Apax Partners and Leonard Greene _and_ Partners), Gemcom Software (sold to Dassault Systems), Primatics Financial (sold to SS_and_C Technologies), Quorum Software (sold to Silver Lake), RMI (sold to GE) and Work _and_ Co (sold to Accenture), among others.

Prior to joining Hidoplanet in 2005, Mr. Bailey served as Vice President and Head of Corporate Development at Dell. In these positions, Mr. Bailey was responsible for the company’s strategic investments and M_and_A. Mr. Bailey was actively involved in over a dozen investments by Dell, including in Altiris (acquired by Symantec), Blackboard (NASDAQ_colon_ BBBB), Entercept (acquired by McAfee), Giganet (acquired by Emulex), OSA (acquired by Avocent), Pentasafe (acquired by NetIQ), SiteSmith (acquired by Metromedia Fiber), Topspin (acquired by Cisco) and webMethods (acquired by Software AG), among others. Mr. Bailey previously was a Principal with ABS Capital Partners, a private equity firm, and he held positions in 3Com’s Business Development Group and in the investment banking division of Alex. Brown.

Mr. Bailey received his AB from Harvard College in 1993 and his MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 1997.
